Queen Joanne and her team of filmmaking wizards have officially declared Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamandar in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
We know that the film will take place in New York, 70 years before the happenings in the Harry Potter series, and that the story will follow everyone’s favorite magiczooligist on his adventures.
Jo Rowling is penning the film, along with it’s planned two sequels, working in tandem with producer David Heyman and director David Yates once again.
“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity,” Yates said. “I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in JK Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”
I certainly look forward to returning to the wizarding world, and am still overjoyed at the news of the team Rowling, Heyman, and Yates reunion.
Congratulations on the new role, Eddie! You may not have been cast as a Weasley, but I have a feeling Newt will be just as fun and rewarding to portray.
