If you’ve clicked on your radio at all this past month or so, you’re sure to have heard Rachel Platten’s Fight Song at least once, but probably more like a thousand times. Stations have been running Fight Song on what seems like a constant loop, and for better or worse, the tune has been burned into my brain.

With such empowering lyrics and Platten’s sweet yet strong vocals, this song is hard for me to let go of. I’m not usually much of a Top 40 fan, but the message she shares with us about overcoming obstacles and believing in yourself is so full of truth, it hooked me early on. I continue to find myself reciting “This is my fight song!” throughout the day, helping me to concentrate on myself when life gets hard or confusing.

But long before there was a song titled just for this purpose, I christened plenty of others as my own personal fight songs.

The OG American Idol herself, Kelly Clarkson released one of the most powerful pop songs about accepting your mistakes and finding strength within yourself as well as from others like you.

Shine

Anna Nalick reminds me that at this moment, we all have so much more to give and to fight for. We’ve only just begun to shine.

Brave

I think this song brought a tear of happiness to just about everyone’s eye during their first listen. A strong message in a light hearted melody.

Firework + Roar

One of these songs cannot be presented without the other. For me, they come in a package of pure fierceness that pumps me up every time.

Unwritten

It’s hard to find words to describe how this song makes me feel. You know that slow warmth that moves through your core and up into your scalp until it explodes through your hair and you feel like you can take on the world? Yes. That feeling.
