It’s ‘Harry Potter’ Weekend in More Ways Than One Thanks to Freeform and J.K. Rowling

Magic is undoubtedly in the air as we approach the end of the month of July, a time of year where Potterheads of all ages rejoice in observation of two very special birthdays. On July 31st, both J.K. Rowling and her boy-wizard creation celebrate yet another trip around the sun.

It’s no surprise that the Potter fandom takes pride in their July 31st festivities, planning parties, dinners, and marathons together, all to show appreciation for Rowling’s wonderful wizarding world.

To carry on it’s tradition, the Freeform network, formerly ABC Family, plans to broadcast all of the Harry Potter films during their normal weekend timeslots, airing July 29th through July 31st.

Catch the second day of the marathon with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on July 30th at 3:15 p.m. EDT, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at 6:30 p.m., Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at 10:15 p.m. , Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on July 31st at 5 p.m., and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at 8:45 p.m.

If that’s not quite enough Potter-mania for you, you’re in luck. Pre-order pickups, downloads, and day-of purchasing for Rowling’s script for her stage show, The Cursed Child, open at 12:01 on the morning of July 31st. For those who have waited and shielded themselves from spoilers after the opening of the play in London, now’s the chance to discover the eighth part of Harry’s story and return to Hogwarts in an entirely new way.

How are you spending your Harry Potter weekend? With the movies, the books, or a trip to the theme park, perhaps? Share with us in the comments below, or find me on Twitter @bekahbabble!
